This creates quite a stir in Mexico City as many of the intellectuals and people of Mexico do not approve of this marriage.The U.S. Ambassador has taken an extreme interest in the occasion and has advised both countries to avoid any interference in their internal affairs. The Mexican government has also made it clear that it would be asking the U.S. to take no part in the event. This is a reference to former Mexican President Carlos Salinas' demands that the U.S. refrain from interfering in the wedding and even allow the Mexico State Governor to attend the wedding.Numerous novelists have attempted to explain what all the fuss is about. Most have been critical of both sides of the issue and are very enthusiastic about the marriage. Some American authors have written books specifically concerning this marriage.One of the notable arguments that has been aired on the T.V. media is the view that the Mexican writer was made an example of by former President Salinas. Many Mexicans feel that it is just as likely that the former president was attempting to avoid something that may happen. The reason why the former Mexican President was so interested in the wedding of the Mexican writer is because he was preparing to run for re-election in 2020. Thus, he wanted to make sure that he did not offend the Mexican writer and would not be seen doing so.Another argument against the marriage is that while the Japanese woman is holding the position of Ambassador, she was responsible for making the decision to permit the wedding. The article in the Mexican newspaper pointed out that the Embassy had been responsible for many marriages in the past, and so many believed that the same choice should not be made. For whatever reasons, the decision was made, and thus the wedding was permitted.One of the m ore controversial parts of the event has been the fact that it took place on land that is part of the national park system in Mexico. There have been several protests by environmentalists, and some Mexican publications have run articles on their protests. To a certain extent, the protests are justified but not completely.It is true that the Mexican author is taking up the position of Ambassador to Japan, and as such, the job is one that is highly sensitive. However, the job is also one that requires a great deal of time and energy. No one wants to be tied down in a diplomatic position for long periods of time.
